This vehicle is a rare 1954 split-screen Morris Minor Traveller. Imported from England, this is a right-hand drive model. The dash configuration indicates that it was built in late 1954 as the instruments are centered and it has open glove-boxes in front of both front seats. A full restoration was done in the late 1990's with the exception of the upholstery, which is comfortable for driving but worn. All wood was replaced with new. The engine is clean and runs very well. The car is, as near as I can tell, completely original. It comes with extensive maintenance and MOT (British inspections) records. Also included is a vintage maintenance manual. I use a modern version of that manual on my 1959 Morris!
The vehicle has virtually no rust evident, as it has been garage kept since the restoration. I did notice a small patch underneath, but aside from that it is in great shape. Even the wiring looks new. I don't know if the odometer has turned over.
These cars are a great deal of fun both to drive and easy to work on. From 1948 to 1971 1.3 million were made. Therefore, it's easy to get parts as many are still on the road, and very easy to work on the vehicles yourselves. You sometimes have to be patient as few made it to the US so often parts are available only from the UK. There are enthusiasts world-wide who are quite willing to provide advice to help. I have greatly enjoyed working on these little cars. I planned to do an electric conversion on this, but changed my mind and decided to do it on my convertible instead, so the Traveller needs to go.
I am happy to send along other pictures and, if I can, answer questions about the history of the vehicle based on the maintenance records. Thanks for looking!
