1940’s Americana is epitomized within this classic design by visionary Ford designer, E.T. Gregorie. Appearing in movies such as Grease and American Grafitti, the Super Deluxe Convertible because the prototypical shape-platform for what would become basis for the American hot rod.
The two interior heaters were a “Southwind” gasoline burner, which had the advantage of keeping one warm in Winter at drive-in movies. Not only did it have excellent power, it was easy to drive and had excellent brakes for the time. It was regarded as the best handling ordinary car of its day and is regarded as a highly transitional model within the Edsel Ford era.
This example has been restored to a superb standard and shows as an extremely well throughout. Under the hood lies a Hot-Rodded Flathead V8 trimmed in period enhancements, including Offenhauser Cylinder Heads, an Eddie Meyer Intake Manifold and period Exhaust Headers. It is an excellent running and driving car throughout and is a joy to drive, either as a soft top closed coupe or an open sporting roadster.
Ready for immediate use, this is an excellent candidate for a host of Regional events or Cruise Nights or simple and usable Summer fun.
