The Turbo-Look 911s were built in limited numbers as an upscale
option to the standard Carrera. The M491 package entailed a Turbo
body, brakes and wheels, fitted with a naturally aspirated Carrera
engine and suspension. As one of just 171 M491 Carrera Cabriolets
produced for North America, this exceptional example was completed
on April 20, 1988 as special ordered by Mr. Delauro of Lafayette,
CA, with California Emissions (1 of 93), Steering Wheel with Raised
Hub, Blaupunkt 'Reno' radio, Limited Slip Differential, Turbo Look
without Spoilers ($12,799 option) and HiFi Sound Sytem, wearing
Guards Red (G1) paint over Black Leather (LT) upholstery.
Additionally the car is fitted with a more desirable manual
(non-electric) soft top.
Mr. Delauro took delivery of WP0EB0912JS171723 on May 30th 1988
through the Porsche Tourist Program in Stuttgart, before coming
home to California. Records of the Original Bill of Sale, Window
Sticker and all tourist delivery pamphlets and paperwork accompany
the vehicle's original manuals in folio. The Carrera eventually
changed hands over a decade later, seeing residency in Texas and
Tennessee, before making its way back to California. As presented,
this 911 Cabriolet remains complete numbers-matching, in stock
configuration, including trim, upholstery, paint and accessories. A
later radio has been fitted. Matching identification tags are still
adhered to the doors, door jambs, undercarriage and underside of
the hood and luggage compartment. The undercarriage is nicely
detailed, and preserved with original Cosmoline coatings, paring
well to the engine bay with authentic coatings and stickers.
The motor, transmission and electronics, operate as expected from
such a pampered car. The 911 received a December 2017 multi-point
inspection, including all-new 205/55R16 and 245/45R16 tires. The
Carrera is complemented by all original Owner's Manuals and
booklets in folio, tool kit, jack, date stamped spare tire,
European emergency triangle and convertible boot in bag.
The collectability of 3.2 Carreras with G50 Transmissions continue
to develop as more enthusiasts value the model's everyday
drivability and nostalgia paired with modern amenities. Known as
the "High-top Speedster", this already rare wide-bodied example is
made even more scare with the addition, or rather factory
subtraction of both the front and rear Turbo spoilers. Now
available for Worldwide purchase and delivery, we offer this
exceptional 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet.
