GR Auto Gallery is pleased to introduce this sporty 1979 Fiat
Spider 2000 for consideration. Originally known as the 124, The
Fiat Spider was designed by famed Italian coachbuilder,
Pininfarina, whose name plate appears on the worlds most sought
after cars. The 124 Spider was introduced in 1966 and was available
for the European and US market. The cars were small and very
capable sports cars that were fun to drive. The interiors were
roomy and well appointed compared to other cars in its class, and
the Pininfarina body design would prove timeless. In 1979, the cars
engine displace increased from 1.8 to 2.0 liters re-branded as the
spider 2000.
The 1979 Fiat Sider 2000 offered here is a highly original example,
is said to have had 3 owners showing just 48074 miles on the
odometer. The car is finished in its original factory color, Fiat
Safari Ivory, over all original tan interior. The car is powered by
its spunky 2.0 liter DOHC engine, 5 speed transmission and rear
wheel drive. Highlights include: Bucket seats, console, power
brakes, luggage rack, newer convertible top, original glass, sport
wheels, classic 3 spoke steering wheel etc. Cosmetically, this Fiat
overall is in great condition with what appears to very one repaint
in its original color completed quite some time ago. The original
interior remains excellent overall featuring a near flawless
original dash with excellent veneer fascia, excellent seating
surfaces with showing some slight, less than normal wear and very
good original carpeting. The underside is completely original and
very clean solid and honest, the engine and engine area remain very
tidy boasting original paint in the engine area and the rear
luggage compartment excellent featuring jack and spare.
Mechanically, the car runs and drives great, pulls strong in every
gear, shifts smooth, goes where you point it, demonstrates a tight
suspension and stops straight.
The Fiat Spider 2000 are being recognized as a real value when it
comes to vintage sports cars, and these cars are poised to keep
rising in value. A clean, honest and mechanically fit example as
the one offered here has much to offer its new driver.
