The car that started it all! We all know about the Ford Model T and how it revolutionized not only the assembly process but also the country itself. It remains one of the best selling cars of all time with more than 15 million produced from 1908-1927. However, 100 years later you wonder where they all went. Well I can account for one of them.
This 1922 Tudor Sedan is a delightful, fully operable example of the Model T. It was restored around 1990 and still looks and runs great. The steel body is in wonderful condition without any signs of trauma or rust. The underside and floors are just as nice, and the black paint shines up nicely. The glass also looks good, though the rear window appears to have been shot at twice!
The engine is from a 1919 and really runs well. I was rather surprised the first time I drove this car as it was much smoother and faster than I expected. The 6V electric starter turns it right over, though the hand crank is there too if you want to go that route. The transmission also works good through both forward gears and reverse. The brakes are also very effective.
The interior is in fantastic condition with almost no signs of wear. The seat covers, carpet, door panels, and headliner are all very well done. All the hand and foot controls work properly, as do the ammeter and headlights. The horn switch and relay function but the horn itself is not honking. Also note the passenger door window does not have a regulator.
There just aren’t many functional Model T’s any more. When is the last time you saw one of these at a car show, much less on the road? This is a great opportunity to own a running, driving example in remarkable condition throughout.
