6/12/1992 at 'Aristocrat Motor Company', the Mercedes-benz
dealership of Shawnee Mission, KS where the car was initally
serviced whilst under warranty and in later years the car was
serviced at a local NAPA Auto Care Center independent repair shop,
'Halloran Automotive' of Hastings, NE. This was the last year of
the legendary W126 series and the second generation of the
Mercedes-Benz flagship series officially known as the 'S' class
meaning 'Special Class' and had a suggested retail price of over
$82K in 1991. The W126 S-class was a champion in the luxury car
market and dominated worldwide sales during its twelve year
production run from 1979-91 and by the end of its run was renown
internationally as being the world's best selling prestige luxury
car! It was awarded the US Highway Loss Data Institute's 'Safest
Passenger Car of the Year Award' in both 1988 amp; 1989! It was
replaced by the W140 in 1991. This is the last and therefore
obviously most desirable and refined year of this iconic motorcar!
It was also the only year in the US to have the added factory
option available of Traction Control System (Cost $1,975) otherwise
known as ASR which was a Mercedes-Benz first and prevented
wheelspin. It also boasted both driver and passenger side airbags,
crumple zones, cruise control, 8-way power dual stage heated front
memory seats, automatic climate control, sunroof and anti-lock
brakes! It also boasted new drivetrain technologies such as a four
speed automatic transmission with a topographical sensor that
monitored the vehicles position whether on an incline or a decline
along with the gas pedal position which produced an extraordinary
capacity to hold back the acceleration when coasting downhill and
to maintain the 'S' class position without using the brake pedal
after coming to a complete stop on an incline! It also featured a
'limp home mode' in case of electronic failure and was programmed
to start in second gear in order to always allow for smooth
wheelspin free launches! Without a doubt, this is one of the finest
classic luxury cars built by Mercedes-Benz and certainly you will
look long and hard to find a finer example of this last and
therefore most desirable year model for the W126 S class series and
an especially desirable 1991 560SEC coupe with only one careful
family owner since new and boasting all original documentation and
service records and only 33K original miles in this most striking
and desirable of color combinations available anywhere else!
