790436and now being sold with a very low believed to be original
18K miles! This particular model was completed according to the
authentic factory 'Porsche Production Specifications Certificate'
in 11/1978 and boasts it's original and matching #'s engine and
transmission and was purchased on 12/30/1978 and serviced by it's
original southern California owner at 'Wester Porsche' of Seaside,
California. Reportedly purchased by only it's second southern
California owner in the mid eighties and owned until the owner's
passing last year. The car was then transferred into his wife's
name from his estate and is now being sold with a believed to be
original 18,673 miles as reported by his wife and shown on the
odometer. She had known her husband to have serviced the car when
required primarily at the renown 'Lomita 911', Porsche specialists
of Harbor City, California. The car will be sold with its original
owner's manuals and it's Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. It
has it's original tools still unused and stored in their rightful
compartment under the hood and the car will be sold with it's front
bra cover. The obvious non-original items are the 993 alloy wheels
and a repaint in it's original 'Black' factory color. In 1979,
original dealers retail prices were sold well over sticker price
for this, as stated by Porsche, last year of production for the
turbo Porsche with Beverly Hills Porsche selling the most expensive
model for a reported record $154k! In fact the last 930 model we
ourselves sold, originally sold in 1979 for an unbelievable
advertised price of $99,999 over it's original suggested retail
price of $44,775! Porsche nevertheless did continue production of
the Turbo Porsche in Europe until 1980 but it did not import the
car into the U.S. again until 1986.This eminently collectible
turbo-charged version of Porsche's rear engine 911 was so heavily
re-engineered as to merit a seperate type number, the 930, with
markedly flared front and rear wheel arches, wide tires (wider
still in the rear) and a prominent tray-like spoiler that's long
been known as the 'whale tail' among enthusiasts. It was soon to be
recognised as the star performer of all Porsche production cars and
here is one of the most collectible years available - the 1979 3.3
litre Turbo, last year of U.S. production until 1986.Obviously
always garaged and covered and rarely used, we are told on good
authority from the widow of its only second southern California
owner, that the car has probably never seen rain. The car has
absolutely no rust or signs of any accident history! The car has
always been driven with a factory bra to avoid any of the otherwise
unavoidable freeway chips and scratches on these low profile sports
cars and both the car's paint and leather interior are in very good
condition in this most beautiful and highly desirable all black
Porsche color combination! The only real interior imperfection
would be the typical now fast shrinking leather dash. This car truly
has to be driven to be fuly appreciated. The original matching #'s
(6891091) 3.3L 6 cylinder renown 'bullet proof' engine is extremely
strong and very smooth running with a believed to be original only
18K miles; although please note that any service history for the
car was unfortunately misplaced by the second owner over the years
and cannot be found by either his widow or his estate. The matching
#'s (790436) 4 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly and
effortlessly through the gears with none of the typical synchro
problems common in these early model years and the car drives
exactly like a well maintained and cared for 930 Turbo should! The
temperature always remains cool and the car does not burn oil. The
car has a current California smog certificate and the options are
working as they should, including all power options.Obviously never
abused or raced and overall an extremely fine and rare example of
this very desirable and collectible classic - the air-cooled 1979
930 3.3L Turbo Coupe, probably the ultimate exhilirating driving
experience of any sports car anywhere with a 4 speed manual
transmission - increasingly hard to find in such great unabused
condition matching #'s example in such a classic head-turning all
Black striking color combination!
