Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1979 Pontiac Firebird
Trans Am, one of only 1,800 10th Anniversary cars produced with a
Pontiac 400 cubic inch V8 mated to a Borg Warner four-speed manual
transmission. All of the 7,500 anniversary cars (to commemorate ten
years of the Trans Am) were silver over silver and featured an
extra-large hood decal that extends over to the front fenders. Most
of the V8 cars got an Oldsmobile 403 with an automatic
transmission, but PMD stockpiled Pontiac 400s from '78 to install
in the four-speed manual cars, which were offered in very limited
numbers.
With the same collector-owner since 2007, this Trans Am has lived a
pampered life - sold new in College Station, Texas, it has always
been a Southern car. Repainted once in the correct color to a
better-than-factory standard; the car is solid and straight with
excellent gaps and no known rust. Wheels, trim, glass and t-tops
are likewise excellent. Interior shows well with newer seat
upholstery and door panels, but the rest remains in very good
original condition. Remarkably correct and unmolested, down to the
original eight-track stereo. Fisher T-top bags in like-new
condition.
Very tidy under the hood and underneath with all service up to
date. Runs and drives quite well. 1979 sales literature, owner's
manual, warranty book, factory build sheet and more than a decade
of records are included with the sale. A very clean, well-sorted
and rare example that would be a welcome addition to any
collection. For more information about this 1979 Pontiac Silver
Anniversary Trans Am 400 4-speed for sale at Motorcar Studio in
