For Sale: 1978 Chevrolet Corvette in Cincinnati, Ohio

Vehicle Description

Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this completely numbers matching 1978 Silver Anniversary Edition Corvette in stunning condition and priced to sell with only 24,105 original miles. This Silver Anniversary Edition is very original and truly an investment grade classic. The car is totally solid with great lines and is rust free. It runs well and drives great. The Corvette is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color combination of RPO B27 Silver Anniversary Two Tone (13, 07) over Mahogany Leather (762) interior, which is the correct and original color combination as verified by the codes on the trim tag and build sheet, both pictured below. Most Silver Anniversary Edition Corvettes came with Oyster interior. Mahogany is much more desirable and rare. This is an excellent opportunity to own a wonderful classic Corvette that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price as the market on C3 Corvette is hot right now and on the rise. The low mileage is supported not only by the condition, but also the documentation included with the car and the clear Ohio title, pictured below, showing the mileage as, "Actual." Please peruse all of the photos, numbers, and video below to get a true sense of how original, correct, and nice this Corvette really is.

The previous owner of the car purchased it in 1985 with 15,286 miles. This information is verified by his Bill of Sale for the purchase of the car from Rice Chevrolet in Woodsfield, OH dated March 9, 1985. The previous owner's name was Peter Weber. His name appears on that Bill of Sale and on current title as the previous owner. There is also a receipt from 1985 included with the car showing the car had 15,890 miles at the time, which is another nice verification of the original mileage. It is very rare for a C3 Corvette, but a portion of the original build sheet also comes with the car and is pictured below. The paint codes 13 for Silver and 07 are present and clear. These codes are exclusive to the Silver Anniversary Edition. Also, legible is the 25th Anniversary option and D84 for two-tone paint, also exclusive to the Silver Anniversary.

Please notice that all 1978 Corvettes wore the "25th Anniversary" badge. However, only certain cars, such as this example, were the actual Silver Anniversary Editions with the Silver Anniversary regular production order (RPO), "B2Z." This is verified by the trim tag that is pictured below showing the paint to be 13 for the bright Silver upper sections and 07 for the Dark Gray lower section, which was only used in 1978 and only for the B2Z Corvettes, on the darker lower portion.

This Corvette is completely "Numbers Matching" and virtually every part we checked on the car is correct. We have run the numbers on hundreds of Corvettes and there are very few that are so many correct and original components with correct numbers and dates. The last six digits of the VIN are stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured below, and the engine is original to the car. The transmission is also original with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main case and pictured below.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

model description

Chevrolet marked Corvette's 25th Anniversary in 1978 with the most extensive redesign of the car since the introduction of the C3 body style in 1968. The new Corvette introduced a large fastback style rear window that drastically increased luggage space in the rear compartment behind the seats. The interior of the 1978 was also significantly redesigned. The speedometer and tachometer were redesigned in a more square and vertical mode. A glove box was added on the passenger side to replace the pocket. The door panels were also completely new and included screw on arm rests to replace the molded style that been the standard since 1965. 1978 Corvettes featured special 25th Anniversary emblems specific to that year.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. Most of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.
