Vehicle Description
This solid 1985 Chevy C10 pickup is ready to work or play, thanks
to a small block V8, a ton of options, and a recently applied
bedliner with tonneau. Don't discount these trucks if you're
looking for a great work machine, and what could be more practical
as a hobbyist's toy than something that can haul the heavy stuff
home on weekends?
Simple colors always work best on pickup trucks, perhaps due to
their ability to perform the dual roles of workhorse and
advertising venue. Whatever this truck's history may have been, it
remains very straight and clean, with no signs of rust thanks to
spending its entire life in the warm, dry southern US. The paint is
about a year old and looks pretty much the way it would have in
1985, nice but not perfect. The panels are straight, fit and finish
is quite good, and none of the usual scrapes and bruises are
visible anywhere, which all suggest that someone spent the time to
get it right before putting it back on the road. The short bed
combined with a regular cab is sporty and maneuverable compared to
its larger siblings, but the six foot bed with its freshly sprayed
bedliner can haul anything you can throw at it and the tonneau
cover seals it up and keeps your gear hidden. It also offers a
heavy-duty diamond-plate rear bumper, bright stainless trim, and
oversized side mirrors so towing a trailer is a drama-free
event.
There's bright tan vinyl interior inside that's a nice combination
of new and old equipment. The bench seat looks to be wearing
original upholstery, while things like the carpets and dash pad are
recent. Getting comfortable is easy, thanks to this truck's
extensive options list, which includes power windows and locks,
cold factory A/C, cruise control, and a tilt column, which are all
fully functional. An aftermarket center arm rest offers some
storage and a pair of cup holders and a leather wrap on the wheel
makes it easy to grab when you're working. Original gauges keep an
eye on the engine's vitals and the recent AM/FM/CD stereo in the
center of the dash provides plenty of entertainment. Nothing
extravagant, just a comfortable, simple place to spend some
time.
History's most reliable and versatile engine lives under the hood,
a 305 cubic inch Chevy that's remarkably stock. The engine bay
remains clean and well-maintained, with plenty of evidence of
proper maintenance, suggesting that someone cared about keeping it
in top shape. There's a factory carburetor under the air cleaner
and even the original jack assembly is still strapped to the inner
fender. Cast iron exhaust manifolds feed a custom 2-1-2 exhaust
system with a Flowmaster muffler, so it has a high-performance
voice and the A/C has been converted to R134a refrigerant to make
it easy to maintain. Underneath, there's a TH350 3-speed automatic
transmission which gives it quick reflexes with great
user-friendliness. The underside is original but incredibly clean,
more proof of a good life in a warm climate. OEM Rally wheels look
sporty and wear 235/75/15 Michelin radials.
This is a super nice truck that needs nothing except a mission.
