sixties like many other car makers multiple levels of models were
offered and the Oldsmobile Division was no stranger to that
preference. This year Oldsmobile offered from the bottom up the
F-85 Cutlass Cutlass S Cutlass Supreme 4-4-2 Vista Cruiser wagons
the Delmont 88 Delta 88 the 98 and the Toronado. Each class to
reach all levels of consumer satisfaction. The Oldsmobile Cutlass
Supreme is a mid-size car that was produced by Oldsmobile for the
American market. It was positioned at the top of the Cutlass range.
It began as a trim package developed its own roofline and
eventually built on a separate platform than smaller Cutlasses. The
Cutlass Supreme name lasted from 1966 until 1997. The restyled
Cutlass and F-85 shared the same new mid-size platform with the
siblings at Buick Chevy and Pontiac. Also this year Oldsmobile
teamed with the Hurst shifter outfitting to create the very first
Hurst / Olds primarily for the 4-4-2 coupe and hardtop models. The
Cutlass and other GM intermediates were completely restyled for
1968 with wheelbases shortened to 112 inches for 2-door coupe
models and lengthened one inch to 116 inches for four-door sedans
and station wagons. The Cutlass Supreme now the top-line Olds
intermediate series was pared down to two- and four-door hardtop
models with the pillared sedans and coupes dropped and the
convertible moved to the lower-priced Cutlass "S" line upon which
the 4-4-2 muscle car was now based. Also the standard Rocket V8 was
enlarged from 330 to 350 cubic inches with 310 horsepower. How many
of these '68 Olds Cutlass S convertibles made ? Only 13667 copies
making this example a truly rare standout. Total production of '68
Olds Cutlass of all models came to 190070. The base price of this S
convertible amounted to $ 3055. There were nineteen paint colors to
choice from this year: Twilight Teal Provincial White Sapphire Blue
Nocturne Blue Teal Frost Willow Gold Ocean Turquoise Cinnamon
Bronze Flambeau Burgundy Silver Green Scarlet Jade Gold Ivory
Juneau Gray Silver Beige Buckskin Saffron Peruvian Silver and Ebony

would find under the hood is Oldsmobile's version of a V8 350/310
