Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1956 Daimler Conquest
Century Saloon. Very attractive in black over green leather
interior, it's a nicely restored example both mechanically and
cosmetically. Concours-quality paint and body; exceptionally
straight and slick with a deep shine. Excellent panel gaps and door
fitment, including the precise overlay of the fenders with the
leading edges of the front doors tucked behind.
Interior shows beautifully with excellent wood throughout, door
panels, headliner, carpets and interior trim. Green leather seat
upholstery has a lovely patina but does not show excessive wear.
Lights and indicators are working as they should, including the
original trafficator semaphores (even the cancel function when
rolling out of a turn still works properly).
The type DJ256 Conquest Century was fitted with a nicer trim and a
more powerful engine (which allows it to achieve a higher top
speed) than the standard Conquest. Under the hood is a
smooth-running 2.4 litre inline six cylinder engine mated to an
innovative four-speed preselector gearbox. The drivetrain was fully
rebuilt when this car was restored and all systems -
engine, gearbox, steering, brakes, etc - are working well. Even
after extended highway and city driving on a hot Atlanta summer
day, the coolant temperature never got above 190 degrees
Fahrenheit.
Easily among the nicest and best-sorted Daimler Conquest Century
saloons available anywhere. For more information about this 1956
