Vehicle Description
The Ferrari 360 was built at the Maranello factory from 1999-2005,
succeeding the popular F355 in the V8 mid-engine
platform. The 360 was built with an entirely new aluminum space
frame chassis that was lighter and 40% stiffer than the 355. The
entirely new 3.6-liter engine produced 395 bhp and propelled the
new model from 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds. 2 tenths faster than its
predecessor, the lower weight and greater horsepower made the 360
the quickest of the V8 models ever produced in street trim.
Initially offered as a coupe model or Modena, a year later the
Spider was introduced in cabriolet form. A special performance
edition, "Challenge Stradale" was offered in very limited coupe
form for those demanding the highest level in street legal
performance.
A total number of 8,800 Modenas and 7,565 Spiders were produced for
worldwide distribution. Of that number 1,810 Modenas and 2389
Spiders were produced for the US market.
Offered with either a manual 6-speed transmission or F-1 style
automatic, just 670 Spiders were produced with the "3 pedal" manual
gearbox.
