Vehicle Description
Decked out in a great color and featuring the coveted GT options...
and then some, this 1966 Ford Mustang GT is a rare gem that
features an A-code 289 V8 with C4 automatic transmission, as well
as several very well-chosen add-ons that up its performance
quotient without altering its vintage identity in the process.
This Pony presents an undeniably impressive and polished
appearance. The deep, Ivy Green metallic paint is a great color for
this model. It's not only factory-correct, but a direct match to
what it rolled out with some 50 plus years ago and it's in fine
shape - with a wet-looking shine from all angles, and nary a
noticeable chip to mar its stellar look. Those white stripes
running down the sides are part of the GT option package and they,
too, look great, unscuffed and showing admirably sharp edges. All
the aesthetic details have been well looked after on this vintage
coupe. The grille up front is table straight and bears an
unblemished pony emblem in its center - bracketed by a pair of fog
lights - and in back, the dual exhaust tips are surrounded by very
clean bezels. Like the fog lights, they provide another indication
of this Mustang's special GT lineage. The body panels line up
exceedingly well and, with its very new-looking black vinyl top, as
well as clean chrome bumpers, brightwork and badging from end to
end, it's got the look of a museum piece, and you can easily
picture this classic rotating on a turntable in front of a throng
of admiring onlookers.
Just inside the doors, a very clean deluxe Pony interior awaits,
and like the exterior, it's been skillfully refurbished to its
original specifications. Featuring a very desirable parchment
color, both the bucket seats in front and the bench seat in back
look great and, along with the door panels on both sides, show
virtually no wear at all. An aftermarket console extension,
offering convenient storage and cupholders, sits astride the center
console and in contrast to what we see all too often, it's a strong
match for its surroundings. Just beyond the three-spoke Mustang
steering wheel, a set of original gauges sits, still easily
readable. They're joined by a Mustang option not even included on
the GT package - an authentic Ford Rally Pack - featuring a tach
and clock, mounted just in front of the cluster on the steering
column. A little lower, the factory issued air conditioner is in
fine form, more than up to the task of keeping you and your
occupants comfortable. The trunk area is nice and tidy, lined with
the signature Ford plaid fabric on the bottom and a full-size spare
securely fastened in place.
This is a real A-code car and carries what we believe is the
original 289 cubic inch V8. It's still wearing proper Ford Blue
paint, a chrome air cleaner with decal, and a set of finned valve
covers, all of which are period pieces that still look great. The
Edelbrock 4 barrell carb adds some performance boost and the C4
3-speed transmission combined with 3.00 gears in back make for a
very comfortable cruiser. It's all in fine form, running very
smoothly and sounding great as it exhales out the dual exhaust,
which features an Xpipe to balance out the exhaust for increased
efficiency. This very sharp looking Mustang sits with just the
right stock, level stance on a set of 14" styled steel wheels that
feature Cobra centers and are wrapped with Cooper Cobra
radials.
