1969 was the last year for the celebrated 427ci tri-power engine in the Corvette. With the distinctive big block hood, a clear indicateon to all automobile enthusiasts under the hood lied a very potent power plant. Remember, this was the heyday of the “Muscle Car” era, when cubic inches and horsepower meant everything in the automobile world, especially to those enthusiasts desiring high performance sports cars.
Being offered for sale, by the estate of a long time NCRS member and owner of the car since July 1970, is an excellent LeMans Blue, with Black standard interior, 1969 L68 427/400hp tri-power 4-Speed air conditioned Coupe. Of the 15,831 big block Corvettes built in 1969 only 2,072 received the L68 427/400hp engine option. While Chevrolet does not publish the breakdown of the 11,859 air conditioned Corvettes by body style, engine option, and color, it can be safely concluded a LeMans Blue 427/400hp 4-Speed air conditioned Coupe is a pretty rare Corvette. What makes the Corvette being offered especially rare is its limited ownership history, its originality, and its documentation. The car has its original LeMans Blue paint, original Black vinyl interior, original M21 4 Speed Manual close-ratio transmission, original window glass, original bumpers / chrome work, and original 3.70:1 positraction rear axle.
GM side exhaust have been added and the car is currently powered by a GM service replacement 427ci CE short block, with all the other original engine components in place. The original engine block (fully operational), original exhaust system, original rocker panel moldings, and original rear valance go with the car; so, the car can easily be brought back to original factory configuration, if one wanted pursue NCRS or Bloomington Gold judging awards.
The car, with 51,145 documented miles, is nicely optioned with: power steering; power windows; AM-FM radio; Tinted Glass; Rear Window Defogger; Speed Warning Indicator; Headrests; Air Conditioning and has the original Corvette Order Copy (Tank Sheet) and Protect-O-Plate.
This very original 1969 LeMans Blue big block Corvette presents in excellent condition, drives great and needs nothing other then to be proudly and enthusiastically driven and enjoyed.
