Vehicle Description
The Ferrari F355 was introduced in May 1994 as the successor to the
widely coveted Ferrari 348. The 355 nomenclature was created from
the engine capacity followed by the number of valves per cylinder.
This mid motor Ferrari has a beautiful hand made 3.5 liter V8 with
5 valves per cylinder thus designating its model name the 355 (3.5
liters, 5 valves per cylinder.). For its time the F355 was ground
breaking and really set a performance benchmark for other cars in
its performance category. Ferrari with its flat plane crank V8 will
wind up to 8250 rpm while producing its peak horsepower of 375
horses. 0-60 sprints can be achieved in 4.9 seconds, a quarter mile
time of 12.9 seconds, and a top speed of 183 MPH, this Maranello
based machine is a scapal of all sorts. This breed of Ferrari was
produced during a time where brute horsepower was not the only part
of the equation but finesse, weight, size and aerodynamics were in
the forefront. This Pinafarina designed beauty was devoloped with
wind tunnel designations and research time of over 1300 hours. The
F355 was rather light with a dry weight slightly above 3000 pounds.
The F355 Berlinetta was the one last mid engined Ferrari's designed
with the flying rear buttress, a beautiful signature cue dating
back to 1960 Ferraris. A total of 4,871 Berlinetta units were made
from 1995-1999 of which 3829 were made with a gated 6 speed. What
can we say, grab your conolly leather driving gloves, row through
the gated six speed shifter, hear the howl of the glorious 3.5
liter v8, and awaken the senses and truly experience the visceral
motoring of one of the finest mid engine Ferraris ever produced.
