even think about building a Hemi, they know all about the legendary
Mopars. And when Auburn Hill's brand behind the brands announced
plans build yearly runs of limited edition models, enthusiasts
lined up like kids at an ice cream parlor. Fast forward a couple of
years, and you get modern classics, like this sweet Challenger,
that are already starting to hold their ground in the collector car
market. 1 of only 100 MoPar Edition Challengers produced for the
2014 model year, this fully documented coupe is a 1-owner boulevard
king that's seen only 4,022 miles of limited road use. If you're

BODYWORK/TRIM
Beginning life at Chrysler's excellent Brampton manufacturing
facility, this Challenger has roamed less than 5,000 miles of clean
blacktop under the guidance of just one owner. Pull the car under
the lights and you'll find glossy Black Clear Coat that's dressed
in a brilliant Shaker Stripe. Below that lust worthy canvas,
original sheetmetal fits precisely, displaying excellent build
quality. A close look down that slab-sided fuselage reveals not so
much as a dent or ding anywhere. And it all adds up to one slick
modern MoPar that wraps world-beating performance in a substantial
sense of style!
Challengers have never been safe havens for the meek. And they're
almost morally offensive to folks who like their cars as bland as
rice cakes. So, as if to bully critics into submission, MoPar
optioned this coupe to just south of audacious using a full array
of gnarly aesthetics. At the front of the car, black chrome grilles
hang a retro "Challenger" script between high intensity headlights,
projector fog lamps and an aggressive splitter. Behind that
splitter, a tall profile founds sporty MoPar Performance badging
between a polished fuel filler, Satin Black rockers and heated
fold-away mirrors. Those mirrors reflect MoPar-branded glass, which
rides under an optional sunroof. At the edges of that glass, MoPar
hood pins secure a "SHAKER" branded hood while a power-operated
decklid secures a MoPar-branded spoiler. And beneath that spoiler,
"DODGE" branded taillights illuminate polished MoPar exhaust
tips.
ENGINE
Of course, there's only one question that comes to mind with any
Dodge muscle car - Does it have a Hemi? At the heart of this
Challenger, a stout, 5.7 liter Hemi V8 utilizes 379 horsepower to
transform what's essentially a comfortable touring coupe into a
heavyweight stoplight slayer. While not as brutally moody as the
426 Elephant that immediately springs to mind, the Gen III is an
award-winning motor that features a great mix of old school power
and modern technology. Aesthetically, Chrysler's install is
exceptionally clean, presenting well under the firm's fully
functional Shaker intake. And, best of all, this is a Hemi that'll
fire up in any weather, drive thousands of miles before anyone
needs to turn its bolts, and probably lay waste to any old school
muscle car that's brave enough to pick a fight.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Straight from Auburn Hills, Chrysler's LX platform was a solid
foundation that could easily spawn multiple rear and all-wheel
drive applications. And when this Challenger's engineering team
bolted up a Mercedes S-Class front suspension, threw in a Mercedes
E-Class rear suspension and re-christened it "LC", they created the
perfect blend of American attitude and European road manners. The
powerful Hemi commands six forward gears through a tough Tremec
TR6060 gearbox, which is reassured with Hill Start Assist. That
transmission twists a fresh anti-spin differential, which is
equipped with big 3.92 gears. There's a new-for 2014 Performance
Suspension that, in addition to being track tuned, is equipped with
standard stability and traction control. Power-assisted Performance
Steering ensures you'll want to do more than make traditional
NASCAR lefts. Braking comes courtesy of power-assisted calipers
that, with the help of standard anti-lock software, clamp vented
rotors. Spent gases exit through a MoPar-tuned exhaust system. And
at the corners, monochromatic, MoPar-branded blades spin 245/45ZR20
Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercars.
INTERIOR
Take a look inside this Dodge and you'll find a stylish Dark Slate
Gray cockpit that's been accented in brilliant MoPar Blue. At the
center of the cabin, heated MoPar seats feature full power
adjustment for the car's driver. In front of those thrones, a
driver-oriented dash founds crisp telemetry and serialized MoPar
badging at the sides of automatic climate control and Uconnect
infotainment. That system, which mixes CD, DVD and MP3 capability
with GPS navigation, voice activated Bluetooth and a 376-watt amp,
processes sound through an auto-dimming mirror, six Boston
Acoustics speakers and a big Boston Acoustics subwoofer. At the
center of the floor, a French stitched console centers a MoPar
Pistol Grip Shifter between "CHALLENGER" branded floor mats and
metal-trimmed foot pedals. At the sides of those mats, blue-tinged
door panels hang padded armrests in front of smooth power mirrors,
requisite power windows and standard power door locks. In front of
the driver, a leather-wrapped MoPar steering wheel spins factory
Speed Control and redundant audio controls around a tilt and
telescoping column. And naturally, all the luxuries you'd expect in
a high dollar muscle car are present and accounted for, including
Keyless Go, a 40-gig hard drive and a Sentry Key theft deterrent
system.
