For Sale: 2012 Shelby GT350 in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

By now, there's really no need for a Carroll Shelby history lesson. We're all very familiar with Shelby's contributions to the automotive world, especially regarding the legendary Mustang. Shelby's pony cars have always been great to look at and even better to drive, giving examples like this tailored GT350 virtually universal appeal. Assembled in 2012, and upfitted with an attractive Shelby Wide Body Kit in 2013, this Ford is one unique pony any way you slice it. More impressive numbers live under the hood, where a supercharged Coyote V8 makes a killer 624 horsepower. And the car's most impressive stats come via history, with a mere 26,851 miles logged under three meticulous owners. Looking for a future collectable? Want a genuinely fun weekend warrior? This clean drop-top is a great solution for a relatively tidy sum!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Dressing a vivid layer of Race Red 2-stage in painted top stripes and sporty Shelby call-outs, this spotless Mustang has seen fastidious care since new. As with all 350 of this era's Shelby GT350s, the car's upgrades, including its retrofitted widening kit, were performed by Shelby American of Las Vegas, Nevada. Like most of our low-mileage, garage-fresh pieces, its body presents as new in every conceivable way. That body's sinuous panels are straight, solid and, per CARFAX, have no history of accidents or damage of any kind. And a close look down the car's muscular fuselage reveals world-class finishing that's far nicer than any piecemeal third party build.

Like most Shelby bolt-ons, the firm's Wide Body Kit is meant to turn Ford's definition of good into the enthusiast's definition of great. At the front of this mean mare, a patent GTS valance hangs a small splitter beneath HID headlights and mesh grilles that feature both Shelby and Mustang brandings. At the top of those grilles, an aggressive hood centers a functional scoop in front of chip-free glass that's topped with black cloth and reflected in body-matched mirrors. At the sides of that hood, 3-inch widened fenders hang traditional "POWERED BY FORD" emblems above remodeled, color-keyed rockers. At the back of those rockers, 6-inch widened quarters host a short antenna opposite a Shelby billet fuel filler. And at the back of the car, a Shelby-branded bumper centers polished exhaust tips and small reverse lamps beneath a tidy spoiler, black-trimmed taillights and a colorful GT350 emblem.

ENGINE

Created as a turnkey package for enthusiasts who want a reliably engineered Mustang that unlocks the full potential of Ford's legendary Coyote V8, this top-of-the-line GT350 utilizes a Ford Racing whipple supercharger to crank out an astonishing 624 horsepower! Front-and-center, the car's polished blower makes good use of a Ford Racing cold air induction system, which marries clean aesthetics with excellent efficiency. At the sides of the engine, dynamic Shelby coil covers join an array of Shelby caps and fluid reservoirs to dress things up a bit. As with all Shelby specialties, this Mustang proudly displays a small Shelby American badge that verifies its authenticity. Aesthetically, the spotless mill features a typical OEM-level appearance that displays hardly any signs of usage. And when you twist the custom-tuned engine's key, you become the lead composer of a veritable orchestra of sinister whines and octane-fueled roars!

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

As most performance car fans already know, this Mustang's D2C chassis is nothing short of excellent. And with choice Shelby bolt-ons, it sticks to the corners like the high-speed luge winner at the 2014 Winter Olympics. The firm's upgrades began with a Shelby/Eibach suspension, which includes a Watt's Link rear-clip, progressed to Shelby/Wilwood brakes, and ended with forged Shelby alloys. Behind the smooth engine, a Shelby twin-disc DYAD clutch engages a Shelby-cooled Getrag 6-speed, which sends power to big gears and a limited-slip differential. At the corners of the car, the aforementioned Wilwoods, which happen to be red-detailed, 6-piston units, squeeze giant drilled and slotted rotors behind standard Shelby ducts. Turns come courtesy of Ford's super-efficient power-assisted steering. Exhaust flows through large-diameter pipes to throaty Borla mufflers. Naturally, Ford's standard ABS and AdvanceTrac traction control systems are present and accounted for. And all this first-class speed and agility rides on the aforementioned Shelby alloys, which spin 275/35ZR20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports in front of 345/30ZR20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

INTERIOR

Inside this 'stang, heated Katzkin seats, which feature 6-way power adjustment for the car's driver, center patriotic accents between red stitching and monochromatic "GT350" scripts. Opposite those thrones, a familiar Mustang dash hangs satin-trimmed telemetry beneath integrated Auto Meter A-pillar gauges. Below those vitals, crisp Shaker audio tops cool factory climate control. Below those amenities, a sequential Shelby plaque leads a fully dressed console that's founded on a short Shelby shifter. Rich carpet frames metal foot pedals and lighted sills. Monochromatic door panels hang controls for power windows, power door locks and power mirrors beneath a Shelby convertible light bar. And the driver spins a tilting, leather-wrapped steering wheel that's equipped with Cruise Control and redundant audio buttons.

OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION AND ACCESSORIES

Framed Shelby documents from the car's delivery (including a Shelby Museum Delivery Certificate)

Receipts and paperwork for all the car's Shelby American upgrades

Considering its beastly motor, great chassis dynamics and exclusive aesthetics, it's hard to beat this Shelby's incredible mix of desirability and affordability. Add in limited production, and minimal miles that were logged by loving owners, and this thoroughbred starts to look like a great buy. If you have room for one of the baddest production Mustangs ever assembled, don't miss the chance to own this awesome GT350!
