Rally Preparation Services Ltd is delighted to offer for sale this amazing 1939 Ford Coupe Long Distance Rally Car, built in 2016 by ourselves.
Built to the current owner’s specification this car is not only great fun to drive, it looks great, sounds great and has great presence. The car boasted all new components with its high detail build sheet including a full nut and bolt body off restoration along with comprehensive rally modifications enabling it to tackle any long-distance rally with ease.
The Ford look was modernized for 1939 — with models having either a low pointed grille with heavier vertical slats, or a higher grille with horizontal dividers. The “alligator” hood was designed to open deep from the top of the grille back, eliminating the side panels found on previous models.
The engine was also revised in 1939 with downdraft carburettors widening the torque band but leaving power unchanged at 85 bhp. Hydraulic brakes were a major advancement across the Ford model line-up at this time after years of stubbornly resisting this advance in engineering as market rivals Plymouth and then Chevrolet had adopted it; Henry Ford abruptly reversed course in time for “juice brakes” to be applied to most ’39 Ford Motor Company cars.
This car represents the finest in hand built engineering by Rally Preparation Services Ltd for a car truly capable for some of the toughest events in the world and a potential winner
