Vehicle Description
RK Motors Charlotte is home to some of the coolest muscle cars on
the planet, and we've built our reputation on bringing you some of
the best Chevrolets your money can buy. Over the last six years
we've sold a plethora of second-generation Corvettes, and when we
tell you this Tuxedo Black roadster is one of the market's best
combinations of performance and style, it's coming from first-hand
experience. Not only is this Chevy one of the most coveted
'mid-year' roadsters produced, it's a well-optioned head turner
that sports a spry 427/4-speed drivetrain that's fed by Holley
tri-power induction. Now that we have your undivided attention,
it's our pleasure to bring you the latest in our long line of
awesome Sting Rays!
BODYWORK/TRIM
The beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration, this polished
drop-top currently reflects glossy code 900 Tuxedo Black 2-stage.
That rich pigment highlights a sea of solid fiberglass that, thanks
to the rebuild, presents exceptionally well. Of course, that resin
wouldn't be as solid had the car not spent most of its life in the
possession of dedicated enthusiasts. And today, this vintage
cruiser is a clean, well-maintained classic that's ready to drop
jaws and carve curves!
C2 Corvettes are literally the stuff dreams are made of, and,
thanks to acute attention to detail, this razor-sharp roadster is
the epitome of legendary American motoring. At the front of the
car, bullet-style marker lights, mirrored bumpers and a red, white
and black cross-flag emblem cage a stainless egg crate grille.
Behind that grille, an aggressive Stinger Hood flows to matte
wipers which, along with polished stainless trim and tight Black
canvas, frame a factory-tint greenhouse. At the sides of that
glass, simple heat extractors lead traditional door handles, a
classy bowtie mirror and a factory antenna. And at the back of the
car, monochromatic tail lamps split the difference between mirrored
bumpers, a chrome-trimmed fuel filler and a correct Sting Ray
emblem.
ENGINE
Tilt the hood and you'll find 427 cubic inches of Chevrolet big
block that's poised to provide plenty of spirited motoring. At the
top of the Chevy Orange mill, three Holley carburetors ride between
a chrome, correctly decaled air cleaner and bright stainless fuel
lines. Below those carbs, a familiar Winters intake funnels a
perfect air/fuel mixture in to tough, cast iron heads, which are
capped by stamped, color-keyed valve covers. When the juice hits
the cylinders, reliable, chrome-capped ignition sparks fresh,
stainless-sleeved wires while a stock cam and rotating assembly
push spent gases through factory exhaust manifolds. In front of
those tubes, traditional V-belts spin a modern AC compressor
opposite a rebuilt alternator. And cooling is provided by a beefy
radiator, which rides between an electric pusher fan, pliable GM
hoses and reproduction tower clamps.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Flip this Vette upside down and you'll find a solid, no-hit chassis
that, like the rest of the car, features an array of desirable
options. Behind the 427, a tough Muncie 4-speed twists a familiar
Corvette third-member. At the ends of the car, a requisite double
A-arm front and independent rear suspension is completely sorted
down to its tough transverse leaf, optional power steering and
Satin Black control arms. Above those sturdy bones, clean floor
tubs ride a straight, Satin Black frame. At the corners of those
floors, power-assisted discs mix good handling characteristics with
quick and solid stops. At the edges of those brakes, chambered
side-pipes disperse a fantastic soundtrack. And optional turbines
twist 205/70R15 Kumho Solus KR21s around red-trimmed center
caps.
INTERIOR
Between this C2's doors you'll find striking Black and White vinyl
that's been fully restored to factory specifications. Clean bucket
seats balance factory headrests above a thin console that's topped
with a correct chrome shifter. In front of that shifter, a
monochromatic dash hangs aftermarket air conditioning between
rebuilt telemetry and a familiar Delco AM/FM radio. At the sides of
that dash, stylish door panels, backed by factory power windows,
melt in to fade-free carpet, protected by color-keyed floor mats.
And in front of the driver, a faux Rosewood steering wheel laps a
familiar set of cross-flags.
This big block Vette has it all: great looks, excellent power and a
comprehensive restoration that would take years to duplicate. If
you're in the market for some solid Detroit muscle that's poised to
build equity for years to come, you're looking at your next
classic!
