Finished in the Iconic Grabber Orange, this 1970 Mustang Boss 302
is a fun and functional tribute to the 1970 Boss 302 Mustangs that
dominated the 1970 Trans-Am Series. The restoration was finished in
2012 and features a variety of upgrades that make this an excellent
track-day car, that could be converted for street usage.
Power is provided by a 402 CI "Stroker" Windsor series motor built
by Ernie Elliott. Long tube headers feed the trans-am style side
exit exhaust. It is shifted a period correct Ford Toploader 4-Speed
and Hurst Shifter. The rear end is a Ford 9" with Heavy-Duty high
nodular content casing.
The Suspension has been upgraded to a modern rack & pinion style
with a kit from Flaming River, allowing the removal of the front
shock towers for improved balance and responsive handling. It
sports Wildwood Disc brakes on the front and rear. A Boss 302/429
Staggered rear shock setup was added for reduce hop in the rear
end.
The interior is bare-bones with 2 Summit-brand racing seats,
Cam-lock racing harnesses and a full roll-cage built by Garrett
Race Cars. It has the basic gauge pack with dash-mounted Autometer
tachometer. In the trunk, an ATL fuel cell sits in a custom cradle
feeding the motor through cockpit controlled electric fuel
pump.
The car sits on 15" Minlite reproduction rims and Goodyear racing
slicks front and back. This car is incredibly fun to drive on the
track and does have a clear title unlike most race cars, so it can
be converted for street-use if desired.
