Vehicle Description
Tough diesel 4x4 trucks are not supposed to be this pristinely
original two decades later. So that's why this 1997 Ford F-250 is a
terrific example of the new class of vintage trucks that are still
ready to get the job done today. It even has a rare five-speed
stick-shift to maximize the fun.
Here's an interesting dilemma. We saw plenty of these F-Series
trucks on the road twenty years ago. After all, the styling that
mixed tough truck squareness and the rounded aerodynamic touches
really resonated with pickup people. The problem is that today,
there are not too many of these icons around that haven't seen a
hard life. These F-250s were workhorses, so the few that you do
find are often very far from condition they left the showroom in...
But this truck is the one diamond in the rough. The clean factory
white paint has great with metallic gray accents that look all
original and stunningly bright. The pickup's premium packaging
ensures it has all the right touches such as the chrome bumpers and
trim, and the optional 16-inch heavy duty chrome wheels are in
near-perfect condition. For added convenience this now has a
well-integrated side steps, a hood protector, and liner paint in
the long bed.
The inside is also like a refreshing time capsule. The gray cloth
bench seat shows almost no signs of wear. It has a fold-down
armrest that offers space for storage and cup holders. Since this
is a range-topping model, the bench gives bucket seat-like touches,
such as the electronically adjusted lumbar back bolster for the
driver and passenger. Plus, with cruise control and the extended
range of the dual fuel tanks, this one makes for ideal long-haul
buddy. The back seat of this extended cab is perfect for everything
from carrying extra passengers to secured storage. Another great
part of a loaded truck like this is that it comes with just about
everything power windows, power door locks, and the factory AM/FM
cassette stereo. There are so many adapters out there for modern
music players that we think it would be a shame to spoil this
unique atmosphere by replacing this very original radio. And you
have the rear sliding glass open to get the old-school truck
breezes any time of year, because the modern R134a air condition
will always keep the cab nice and cool.
The massive 7.3-liter PowerStroke turbodiesel already has a
reputation for being powerful and bulletproof. So when these have
the ability of going to the moon and back, you realize that this is
quite low mileage on this original motor. And the clean condition
of the engine bay that still contains its original decals lets you
know that this F-250 was never a mud slinger. But if you do go
off-road this one is equipped just the way you'd want it. It has a
two-speed 4x4 transfer case, tall ground clearance, auto-locking
hubs, and enough torque to move a cabin. But even when you just
stay on the pavement, this is an attractive package. It's rare to
have a five-speed manual transmission with the large turbodiesel.
But the benefit is you now go from overdrive cruising to spirited
acceleration with just a quick downshift. Plus, with power steering
and front disc brakes, this is a true anytime driver.
Complete with owner's manual, you're looking at a truck that's
original inside and out. But survivor-grade status doesn't keep
this one from earning its keep. A cool package like this won't stay
with us long. Call today!!!
