Vehicle Description
Authentic, sleek, and plenty of flathead power - people are going
to take their time appreciating this 1940 Ford 2 Door Sedan,
because someone took the time to get the restoration right.
While this year's car is a big draw in the custom car community,
you can instantly see that someone has gone to great care to go in
the period-correct direction. The great gloss of the black
highlights the iconic curves of the 1940 Ford. And all the
brightwork that make these such a star is still in place. The
bumpers shine brightly; the grille has a powerful Art Deco V-shape;
and the trim runs like an unbroken line from the tip of the hood
all the way until it follows the curve of the rear fender. It's all
finished off with the proper whitewall tires and two-piece Ford
Deluxe wheel covers.
Just like the exterior, you can tell there was an investment inside
in keeping this Ford feeling like a time warp. The tan cloth on the
seats gives you some added comfort, and the ribbed pattern
coordinates nicely with the door panels. The dual-spoke steering
wheel feels grippy in your hands, and it gives you a clear view at
the original dash panel. We know you want this car because of its
authenticity, and so you'll love seeing everything from the
original gauges looking clean and clear, to the original AM radio
still on display.
When you open the hood, it might be difficult to notice the
upgrade. That's because we all know the iconic flathead V8 when we
see it. But this pre-war Ford actually has a the larger 239
cubic-inch motor that was not available in these cars until after
WWII. So you get added power without losing the period-correct
presentation. In fact, the total package with the air cleaner,
carb, dual hoses, and all those bolts on the flathead really keep
up this time machine feeling. And best of all, the investment went
beyond just appearance. So this one has been maintained to be one
of the smoothest running flatheads you'll find today. On the road,
the extra displacement V8 provides a wonderful punch and a great
soundtrack. Plus, the three-speed manual transmission shifts
easily, and provides good power for getting to gatherings with
ease.
More than just a great value, this is a great presentation of
history. So if you truly appreciate classic motoring, call
