The Volkswagen Type 2, known officially as the Transporter, was
introduced in 1950 as the second model alongside the Type 1 Beetle.
The first generation was produced thru the 1967 model year and
featured a split windshield. Variants included a Panel Van, flatbed
Pickup and crew-cab Pickup. The 1965 "Shorty" single-cab Pickup has
been modified to a 54-inch wheelbase via shortening of the bed
section and is NOT an optical illusion! This 2011 build features an
updated 1600cc air-cooled VW powerplant that replaced the 1500cc
version in 1971. The owner reports only 3,526 miles since the
rebuild. While this Shorty will indeed stop crowds at shows, the
vehicle itself stops nicely via a front disc brake conversion. The
suspension setup has also been rebuilt overall. Trim detailing
includes a new Wolfgang polished stainless trim kit and Safari
windows. Bathed in a classic Teal/White PPG color combination, the
interior has also been freshly redone in leather. This little
beauty is beyond cool and neat features include functional side
gates. These Type 2 VWs are rare and saw low import numbers in the
day due to targeted import duties. This 1965 Volkswagen Shorty is
located at our Milwaukee showroom. You can view this vehicle in
