The Shelby Cobra has to be one of the most exhilarating cars of all time. All those beautiful curves on a small lightweight roadster powered by a roaring Ford V8 – is there anything else like it? And this example, with its beautiful blue paint and white racing stripes, does not disappoint.
This Cobra was professionally built in 2005 using the well-proven Factory Five platform. One of the highlights of this design has to be the frame; its huge tubular rails make for an extremely rigid chassis, which benefits both performance and longevity. This example has logged only 5,000 miles since new, so everything is well sorted out but still in excellent condition. The car really is beautiful with high quality fit and finish throughout. The side exhaust, roll bar, wind wings, and pop-up gas gap are all nice accents as well. There are also 17” aluminum wheels with excellent tires (245 front, 275 back).
The engine is Ford’s well proven 5.0L. This one is a fuel injected HO roller motor that was built specifically for this car. Note the remote oil filter and front mounted oil cooler. And while this motor barks and growls out the side pipes, it also maintains good street manners and a smooth idle, along with easy starts. The transmission is a manual Tremec 5-speed, also rebuilt for this car, while out back is a Ford limited slip 8.8” rear. It all gives more than enough zip in a car this light!
Inside the car you will find Factory Five high-back bucket seats with Simpson 5-point harnesses (you can just use the lap belts if desired). The dash is neat and clean with all the usual gauges. Note this car has a working horn, turn signals, hazards, wipers, and emergency brake (this is required equipment in many states, even on a Cobra). The trunk is also nicely finished and includes battery charging ports.
Driving a Cobra really is a thrill; the classic look, the healthy sound, and the wind rushing by create a fantastic experience. Combine that with everything this example has to offer and you’ve got a car you won’t stop thinking about.
