Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1964 Mercedes-Benz 230SL
Pagoda. This example is a long-term California Black Plate car that
made its way to the South about two years ago; very attractive in
correct White (DB 050) with a Black (DB 040) hard top and hub caps
over a red interior. Remarkably original and unmolested, it
presents as a refreshingly honest driver. Never fully restored
because it never needed to be, it's charming to find such an
original car that presents this nicely. Older repaint in the
correct color has held up well with only minor imperfections; panel
gaps are very good. Excellent bumpers, chrome and trim with no
pitting. All original sheet metal, including floor pans and front
fenders. No known rust.
The interior likewise presents to a nice driver standard, with
seats, door panels, dash and all wood in excellent condition. The
multitude of interior chrome bits are like new, with the only
observed pitting on the backside of the rear-view mirror. New
square-weave carpets. Correct (and fully operational) Becker TR
AM/FM radio. All gauges, lights and switches are working
as they should. Black canvas soft top is early new; Pagoda top is
in excellent original condition, including headliner.
Always well maintained with lots of recent service over the last
five years, including a new head gasket, steering coupler, motor
mounts, brake job, tune-up, battery, plus a comprehensive MFI
service. While it's not detailed to a concours standard under the
hood, it is clean and correct throughout. Runs and drives well with
no known needs.
Easily among the best looking of Paul Bracq's designs, the W113
Pagoda exudes a timeless, understated elegance and this example
would be welcomed by any enthusiast. For more information about
