Vehicle Description
Equipped with a big block V8 and recently spruced up with a new
coat of paint, this 1986 Chevrolet C20 Camper Special stands at the
ready to be your proverbial workhorse. More than capable of
handling all the equipment you might heap upon it, it's also plenty
solid enough to be your daily driver as you embark to ply your
trade at worksites near and far.
After more than 30 years in service, everything still remains
straight and true on this venerable truck. From the sturdy chrome
push bar up front that's entrusted with protecting the deep black
grille behind it, to the stretch of steel diamond plate running
under the cabin to the flat black steel grate mounted behind the
rear window to guard against shifting cargo, this truck is no
blue-collar pretender - it's all about rugged service. It's looking
great, as well, having recently benefitted from a new, especially
clean paint job that's set off nicely by all that chrome in front
and the flat black rear bumper with chrome dual exhausts to the
rear. It wears its years well - the front bumper sits
table-straight under that black grille and the doors have a uniform
gap around them. From the back, the raised Chevrolet lettering
stands in relief against an undamaged liftgate. It sits a bit
higher than stock, with a slight incline that further underscores
its rugged capability.
Inside the cabin, the saddle colored vinyl interior is in fine
shape. The two-toned bench seat doesn't shows a lot of wear and
remains very comfortable, and the door panels on both sides look
particularly fresh and grime-free, flushly-mounted against their
steel surroundings. Take a look through the matching, padded
steering steel with its blue Chevy bowtie in the center and you'll
see that the saddle-colored dash area, offset by freshly painted
white steel underneath, has been well-looked after. The full
complement of gauges stare back at you through clear lenses,
encircled by freshly-detailed silver bezels and surrounded by the
burl-pattern of the instrument cluster. It may give off a
stone-cold serious vibe, but this is far from a spartan truck, as
it's equipped with an A/C system complete with a new compressor -
breathing plenty strong through new-looking and well-placed black
registers - as well as cruise control and a JVC AM/FM/CD player. In
back, the bed looks just as you would want in a serious work truck
like this, a sturdy steel surface showing no obvious dents on its
floor or sides, only hearty evidence of its service.
Lift the hood and you'll be able to tell right away that this C20
is no plodder. That's a 454 V8 residing in the freshly cleaned
engine compartment, the strongest powerplant available at the time
this truck began life, putting out plenty of torque for your
everyday needs. Well-detailed with a fresh set of valve covers and
an Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor and air cleaner, it fires right
up, idles smoothly and is paired with a sturdy TH400 3-speed
automatic transmission. Combine this rock-solid drivetrain with
power steering and power brakes - discs up front - and you have all
the evidence you need that this truck is more than capable of being
your daily driver. This sturdy workhorse sits on a set of 15" steel
alloy rims, wrapped in Hankook radials.
