For Sale: 1963 MG MGB in Sunset Beach, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

One of the first MGB's to enter the US. Car number G-HN3-L/690. The MGB was originally purchased by my Father-in-Law when he was in the Navy. He originally ordered a MGA, but received a letter informing him that they would no longer manufacture the MGA and offered to put him on the list for an MGB which he elected to do. The car has been in the family since it arrived in the US in October of 1962. The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust reports that it was built August 23 through the 28th in 1962.

The engine was rebuilt and the car was restored in 1985 using all NOS parts. It starts, runs, and stops very well. The only non original part is the exhaust header that replaced the original exhaust manifold. However, I have an original exhaust manifold that will go with the car. The car was repainted during the restoration, and it still stands out. There are a few imperfections or minor chips in the paint, but they do not take away from its' appearance. It has a rare red convertible top. It was restored with a black top because that is the only color available in the US. However, I ordered the original color red top from the British company that supplied MG. It originally had bias whitewall tires, but now has bias blackwalls.  I also have a second set of wire spoke wheels that will go with the car. I had planned to show the car in AACA shows which required the original bias tires, and I was going to use the second set of wire wheels to put radial tires on; the successful buyer will be able to do this. I did show the car in two AACA judged shows. It was shown at the National meet in Hershey, Pa. where it took a third place, and one local AACA show in Wilmington, NC where it took first place. It also took first place in the chrome bumper MGB class at Britfest in Myrtle Beach, SC in 2015. There are several other parts that will go with the car.
