Vehicle Description
The Chevrolet Chevelle is a mid-sized automobile which was produced
by Chevrolet in three generations for the 1964 through 1978 model
years. Part of the General Motors (GM) A-Body platform, the
Chevelle was one of Chevrolet's most successful nameplates.
1969 Chevelles were billed as "America's most popular mid-size
car."
The SS 396 (a $347.60 option package) was one of the most popular
muscle cars ever! The Super Sport option included a 325-horsepower
396-cubic-inch V8 beneath a double-domed hood, along with a
black-out grille displaying an SS emblem and a black rear panel.
More potent editions of the 396 engine also made the options list,
developing 350 or 375 horsepower.
We have a great looking tribute one here at Skyway Classics today.
It is painted in a not so subtle shade of orange with a black vinyl
top and black bucket seat interior. It has a console shifted
automatic transmission behind the big block Chevy engine. The big
block Chevy engine has performance written all over it with
aluminum intake, headers, Holley carb, performance ignition, chrome
valve covers and air cleaner, and dual exhaust.
Other features include air conditioning, SS mags with Radial TA's,
gauges and tach, JVC audio, and much more.
