For Sale: 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle in Jefferson, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

This car was built in Kansas City. I don’t know when it came to WI, but when it did, it was a race car.

We found a patch in the trunk that repaired the site of a fuel cell. We found bolt holes in the floor where the roll bar was bolted in. It has traction bars.

On top of that, the 454 is very strong. It has MSD ignition, big tube headers and exhaust and is backed up by a heavy duty four-speed and 12 bolt rear end with 3.55 gears and positraction.

I find all the clues that it was a true Super Sport Chevelle: emblems, grill, back panel, door panels, fenders, dash, marker bezels, rag joint and disc brakes.  I don’t have the original engine or purchase documents to support the claim that it is a true Super Sport.

This car was originally Frost Green with a Midnight Green vinyl top. It is currently Burgundy with silver stripes. The interior was also Midnight Green from the factory. Today it is black.

Speaking of the interior. When I found this car in a barn, literally, the headliner was full of mouse evidence. The carpet was old, discolored and smelly. So we had a upholstery shop install the correct headliner and carpet.

We knew it was barley driven over the past ten years. Fortunately, it was started frequently. The 454 is very powerful. It doesn’t smoke. It acts like it has been modified for more performance.

The power, four speed and gearing offer fun driving. Yet the gearing allows for highway cruising. It rolls on BFG Radial TA’s. They are reminiscent of my younger years. I love the 50 series tire on the rear of a muscle car.

This car was restored in 1996. The body and paint has held up well, but it is not perfect. I see a few bubbles at the bottom of the front fenders, where the drains may have been plugged. There are also a few chips, scratches and imperfections that have occurred over the past 21 years. All-in-all, it still looks good.

This car is worthy of any local cruise night or car show. It will definitely draw attention. It is very capable of driving you where you wish to go.

But be aware that there are no horns, the heater controls don’t work and there is no wiper motor. The radio is not wired up and the odometer does not work. The speedometer and gauges work, as do the lights. The parking brake also works. The doors lock with the key. There is no spare or jack.

This is a high performance street car, as it sits. Wouldn’t it be fun if it could talk!
