Vehicle Description
The Ford F-150 is a staple of the car world and has become
synonymous with toughness, durability and power. Representing the
7th generation of Ford F-series truck, the new for 1980 models had
new chassis, better engines, and new styling. With sharper and
squarer lines, fuel economy was an important design consideration.
Galvanized body panels and chassis were introduced to help fight
corrosion. Considered by enthusiasts to be the last great trucks
from Ford and are now becoming popular with restorers!
This 1986 F-150 is one of the last 7th generation trucks to roll of
the production line. Finished in dark blue over black vinyl, this
is a sharp truck. Specced from the factory as a short bed, 4x4,
4-speed manual with the 302cid V8 this is a great combination. The
chrome is in excellent shape and even features the optional full
chrome grill and bumpers. The paint is very even and shows well on
a straight body although the current owner says that some
sheetmetal near the tailgate had been replaced and repainted but
you'd be hard pressed to notice. Glass and lights are clean and
functionable and the rear has clear aftermarket lenses. The bed
does not have a liner but shows very little wear and may have been
repainted. 15in wheels are in great shape although the red trim
needs a touch up. They are mounted on Grabber R/T tires that show
tons of tread.
The interior is in great shape. The vinyl shows well and has no
rips or stains as does the non saggy headliner. The faux wood trim
is intact and the dash has no cracks. Everything works including
the A/C, heater, stereo ,and gauges. According to the owner, the
odo has rolled over twice and the truck has around 280k but you'd
never guess based on the condition! It is missing the drivers side
sunshade.
The 302 V8 starts up well and pulls very strong. The 4-speed manual
shifts well and the clutch has a strong bite. Power brakes and
power steering mean this is an easy truck to drive. With good
service history, paperwork and two sets of keys, this an excellent
example of enthusiasts favorite Ford trucks!
