Vehicle Description
The Toyota FJ40 began production in 1960 and continued through
1984. Over those 24 years, the FJ40 remained largely unchanged as
the formula remained successful: Small, maneuverable, reliable and
rugged. As such, the FJ 40 was quickly embraced by the 4X4
community. These trucks live on, and 4X4 enthusiasts go to great
lengths to keep them on the road implementing all sorts of
modifications and different engine and drive train combinations
beyond Toyotas always reliable 2 and 3f inline 6 engines.
The 1971 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser offered here sports its iconic
and classic design but also has been through a heart and lung
transplant and given a new lease on life with a Chevy 350 engine
and 4 speed manual transmission driving its 4 wheel drive system.
The car highlights newer Gun Metal Grey paint, power brakes,
wrapped headers, fully removable hard top, meaty classic tires,
stock wheels with classic hubcaps, rear mounted spare, custom front
bumper with hook, and desirable rear hatch with lower barn doors.
The interior is largely unchanged and features front split bench
front seat, large rear jump seats, floor mounted shifter and
transfer case lever, original steering wheel, knobs appear original
and complete, original gauge cluster, and auxiliary gauges.
Although not fully restored and not polished and perfect, this 1971
FJ 40 is rugged and ready to take you deep into the woods or on any
off or on road excursion. The vintage 4x4 market remains strong and
the FJ40 continues to pave the way. There have been documented
sales of fully restored examples in excess of $100, 000 dollars,
the FJ offered here offers much more fun for a fraction of that
price.
