For sale in our Chicago showroom is this absolutely incredible 1971
Buick GS. This classic GM still contains its original, numbers
matching engine, but does have a 4-speed overdrive automatic
transmission that was not installed by GM. The engine, originally a
455, now boasts an impressive 494 cubic-inches of raw Buick power
which has been align bored and decked. The internals consist of a
custom Moldex billet crankshaft, Oliver billet rods, billet main
caps, ARP main and head studs, Diamond 10.5:1 pistons, and the
entire rotating assembly has been balanced. On top of the
"short-block" there is a cool set of TA aluminum cylinder heads
which are filled with plenty of goodies as well. Some of the toys
include Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam and lifters, chrome moly
pushrods, T&D shaft mounted roller rockers, all topped by very
attractive TA valve covers. While this I all very impressive, the
kicker is, it's fuel injected! Up top, the electronic fuel
injection setup is controlled by a Big Stuff 3 ECM and utilized an
Edelbrock intake that was modified for the EFI design. This engine
runs like a dream, and is an absolute torque monster. The beautiful
music produced by the motor is released from the exhaust ports
through TA ceramic coated headers, and feeds into 3-inch Flowmaster
mufflers and exhaust. The transmission, a heavy duty 200R4,
delivers the power through an aluminum driveshaft with a forged
yoke into a bulletproof 9-inch Moser rear differential housing with
a posi 3.50:1 gear ratio and Moser HD axles. The exterior is
beautifully done in a silver base / clear coat paint job, with
smooth black stripes and spoiler. To make sure the looks last a
lifetime, the craftsmen went the extra mile with prep work and took
everything down to bare metal prior to hitting the paint booth. The
bumpers really shine since they have been re-chromed, and the new
convertible top and weather stripping take it to the next level.
Hopping in the driver's seat truly is a treat that one would brag
about for a long time to come. Turn the key and feel the rumble,
then depress the gas pedal and I challenge you to try not to smile.
The pilot can read everything that's happening under the factory
ram air hood through Autometer liquid filled gauges, as well as the
factory hood mounted tachometer. Once she's warmed up and ready to
run, tilt the steering column to your likings, shift into drive and
grip the custom carbon fiber Grant steering wheel. This recipe may
sound like a racecar, but the amenities like the Vintage Air air
conditioning system, power windows, power top, and Dynamat sound
insulation prove that this is car is much more. This uniquely built
monster could satisfy even the toughest contenders. Options
include: Air Conditioning, Aluminum/Alloy Wheels, AM/FM Radio, CD,
Convertible Top - Auto, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Widow,
Radial Tires, Seat Belts, Tilt/Telescopic Wheels, Vinyl Interior.
