. It's been almost 54 years Pontiac unleashed their GTO on an
unsuspecting public, firing what many people believe was the first
shot in what would come to be known as the Muscle Car Wars. By
dropping their full-size 389 ci V8 into an affordable intermediate,
Pontiac produced a car with a superior power-to-weight ratio that
young buyers wanted desperately and that the competition
desperately wanted to beat. Our beautiful Marimba Red (L) 1964 GTO
convertible is a fine example of the first year of the legend.
Lurking beneath the hood is a correct (BCN 9773155) 389 ci V8
topped by the legendary Tri-Power induction system sporting a trio
of correct Rochester carburetors. A Griffin aluminum radiator with
dual electric fans keeps the engine cool, while power steering,
power brakes, and a Vintage Air air conditioning system will help
keep occupants cool. Additional goodies present on this frame-off
restoration include an original AM radio (not working) with power
antenna, great-looking Hurst wheels with brand-new Redline tires,
subtle auxillary gauges, and PHS documentation as a real GTO.
