Car Club are pleased to present this 1973 Ford Thunderbird! We
purchased this 73 T-Bird from Nebraska, where the car had remained
since being sold new at Diers Ford of Fremont, Nebraska. We bought
the car from the nephew of the original owner, who had passed away
last year. The seller's aunt had always taken care of her T-Bird,
keeping it garaged and really only using it for in-town errands. As
a result, the car is well-preserved and free of corrosion; this 73
T-Bird is a nice, low-mileage, and eye-catching driver. Exterior:
Yellow is the original color, though the car has been repainted.
Ford really should have taken a page out of Cadillac's book and
come up with a more creative name for the color, because "yellow"
doesn't quite do it justice. Paint shows nicely and has just a few
minor blemishes. There is a 1" scratch on the driver front fender
(see photo), in addition to some very slight chipping along the
creases of the side trim, primarily on the driver door. The body is
in excellent shape; there are no dents or dings. Chrome is in great
shape throughout, and shines with a mirror-like finish. All glass
and lights are clear and crack-free, though the passenger front
turn signal's chrome cover is broken. Wheels are in great shape,
and white hubs contrast really well with the yellow paint and white
vinyl top. Top is in nice shape, though the bottom corners do show
some aging by way of minor cracking. Interior: White leather
interior is in very nice shape and is an extremely comfortable
place to be. Driver seat shows some age by way of light cracks
(nothing through); passenger seat shows less wear but is missing
one button on the seat bottom. Tobacco carpeting is in nice shape,
as it has always been covered by floor mats, which we have since
removed as they're deteriorating. Dash is in excellent shape.
Powered systems are all functional: Powered driver's seat, windows,
AM/FM radio, defrost, heat, fan, cruise control, wipers, all
gauges, lights, and signals. Headliner is nice and tight. Backseat
is in phenomenal shape. Under the Hood / Underbody: This car
retains its original 460cid 4V V-8 and 3spd Cruise-O-Matic
transmission, with only 45,500 miles on the drivetrain! It runs and
drives beautifully. The car starts right up without fail, tracks
and brakes straight, shifts well, and smoothly accelerates with no
stuttering or hesitation. Suspension is extremely supple; it eats
up potholes like they aren't even there. There are no noises or
tendencies of concern. With just 45k miles, this car has a long,
long life ahead of it. The underbody is in great shape, with no
through rust or damage. The differential is stained black, so it
seems as though there is an extremely slow leak there. Frame rails
and floor boards are in excellent shape. Overall, this is a nice
example of one of our favorite generations of T-Bird. Its low
mileage, known ownership history from new, and unusual color scheme
make it a real winner in our book. Please reach out to Jake at
773-267-2684 with any questions, requests, or to discuss
purchasing.
