Vehicle Description
1955 Chevrolet Custom Pickup
The mid 50's pickups have always been a popular classic and this 55
takes it up another notch with some really cool features and a
great style. Trucks like this are what makes custom classics so
fun. It has some really unique features that you just aren't going
to see anywhere us. Original stock classics definitely have a place
in our heart but there is nothing more fun then cruising around in
a truck like this knowing it is the only one like it. The body on
the truck is incredibly straight and the Flat Black paint looks
great. A lot of people see flat colors and think project or rat rod
but we assure you that is not the case here. The paint is a 2 stage
black with a Satin clear coat and was extremely well done with the
perfect touches pinstriping throughout. It may be hard to see in
some of our pictures but in addition to the Red and White
pinstriping, Gloss Black was used creating a very cool contrast.
The tailgate was beautifully done with a graphic all old hot
rodders better be able to identify, the Von Dutch flying eye. It
was all hand painted and is framed in custom engine turned gold
leaf. If we could steal it off the truck and hang it on our wall
here at the shop we would because it is that cool. All of the
chrome on the pickup including the front grill and bumpers have a
great shine and finish. Up front the bumper was flipped and tucked
giving it a slightly different look compared to other 55's. All of
the emblems have been shaved off for a nice smooth exterior. Custom
Cadillac taillights have been added in the rear and work perfectly
with the overall look. Another very cool feature is the relocated
gas tank which now uses a larger flip style cap on the rear fender
kind of like what you would see on a Shelby Cobra. Those are the
type of subtle customizations that really make this truck stand
out. The truck looks incredibly tough rolling down the road and it
has a slight rake for the perfect stance to make it look just as
tough sitting still. It rolls around on smoothie style wheels that
have been painted Black and fitted with baby moon hubcaps and wide
white wall tires.
Under the hood the truck is just as show ready as the rest with
everything being finished out nicely. It is powered by a 350 V8
motor that has been fitted with a custom painted Cadillac air
cleaner, finned valve covers, Edelbrock manifold, Edelbrock 4
barrel carburetor, MSD distributor, MSD wires, AC Delco alternator,
Optima red top battery and aluminum radiator. It is paired with an
Turbo 350 automatic transmission that moves through the gear with
ease. The body is mounted on a 1985 C10 chassis with the C10
suspension so it has been upgraded with front disc brakes and an
IFS front suspension. An E-Z chassis swap kit was used that
included all new cab mounts and a firewall plate for relocating the
power brake booster and master cylinder.
The interior is very nicely done as well with nice Black carpet,
Black Procar low back bucket seats and two tone Red/Black door
panels. The panels are done in a tuck and roll style and feature an
additional storage pocket, chrome door handles, chrome window
controls and arm rests. The dash is accented with nice pinstriping
as well as Shark white faced gauges and very cool custom knobs
which are always a good conversation starter. The underdash AC
system blows cold with no issues. In front of the driver is a tilt
column topped off with a 1940 Ford steering wheel.
This pickup is packed with vintage hot rodding style and really
stands out next to other 55 pickups. The look combined with a nice
ride make it a great truck for new classic car hobbyist and life
long collectors alike.
