The 1956 Ford Thunderbird is the quintessential personal luxury
vehicle. It set the standards for some of the worlds finest luxury
automobiles in sleekness and sportiness. Henry Ford commissioned
the development of the Thunderbird to compete with Chevrolet
Corvette. Once it was complete, it dominated the market for its
day.
This attractive code K (Fiesta Red) with red and white trim, is in
beautiful condition, and has recently undergone a mechanical
restoration including a complete engine rebuild, with new pushrods,
lifters, valves, rocker arm shafts, gears, and seals, as well as a
new oil pump, timing chain, engine gasket, fuel pump, and water
pump.
Along with the power plant being redone, the whole suspension,
front and rear, was completely overhauled and detailed.
The brakes where redone with all new wheel cylinders and
master.
A new power booster steering box, pump and control valves were
completely rebuilt.
For the cooling system, a new radiator was installed, including all
new hoses.
New powered seat motors were installed and work was done to the
window gears on the left and right side along with the door hinges
and adjustments to the soft top frame for ease of use.
Black Horse Garage has recently done a full inspection of the
vehicle and tidied up any loose ends that it found after a season
of driving. The paint is in wonderful condition along with the
chrome. The list of refurbished parts or replaced parts and are too
long to list, but we have documentation is on file.
