West Coast Classics is proud to present an absolutely exceptional
and stunning example of this virtually all stock and completely
rust and accident free 1950 Dodge D34 Coronet 4 Door Town Sedan
with it's original 230cid 6 cylinder engine and Gyro-Fluid Drive
transmission and finished in it's original factory 'French Gray'
color paint with its original 'Light Tan' broadcloth interior trim
in exceptional condition throughout with the carpet, door panels,
headliner, wood-grain dash, chrome and instruments all in as fine
condition as one could possibly hope to find! The entire interior
and exterior has been restored as required over the years virtually
to perfection and is nothing about the car is less than absolutely
stunning!The car's factory options include:Directional
signals2-Speed electric windshield wipersElectric clockChrome wheel
trim ringsand boasted the only available added factory options
of:Gyro-Matic ($90)Radio ($90)Heater amp; Defroster ($44)The car is
quite obviously not like any other 1950 Dodge Coronet you will
find. The level of attention paid to its careful restoration is
obvious at first glance. In 1950 Dodge received a mild facelift
from a completely new redesign in 1949 with the most obvious change
being the new striking chrome grille consisting of 3 horizontal
bars. It's zippy 6 cylinder engine was referred to the Dodge 'Get
Away' engine for obvious reasons and the top-of-the-line model was
the Coronet. The original 230 6 cylinder engine is matched to the
optional upgrade for 1950 of the 'Gyro-Matic' which incorporates a
clutch for shifting the shift lever to two driving ranges, high and
low and reverse; one engages the clutch and shifts to the up
position to engage the first and second gears in the low range and
one then engages the clutch again to shift down to the high range
for the third and fourth gears. This unique tranmission operates as
it should. The clutch is needed to change only between the low and
high range. The fluid drive system allowed the driver to stop at a
light or in traffic and remain in gear without depressing the
clutch. The driver could, if not concerned with fast acceleration,
drive the car all day long in high range, stopping and starting,
without ever having to touch the clutch pedal or Gearshift lever
unless faster acceleration or reversing was required. For this
reason DeSotos and Dodges were favored by city cab companies from
the mid Forties to early Fifties. This particular car boasts the

Conversion KitPlease note that the previous owner had the heater
core bypassed, most likely because it needs to be replaced. The
electric clock and the factory engine temperature gauge do not
work. A new after market temperature gauge has been installed under
the dash to solve the temperature engine gauge issue. The radio
works but does so intermittently. Its most likely very minor.
Lastly, the tires are black wall tires in place of the original
white walls and a new after-market aluminum radiator has been
installed. The original radiator will be included with the car in
case the winning bidder wants to have it repaired and reinstalled.
This particular car looks simply stunning in it's beautifully
painted original factory 'French Gray' color paint and the correct
factory broadcloth interior has been professionally restored and is
both rich and unblemished and the whole interior is in quite
exceptional and virtually flawless and in completely period correct
original condition throughout! All the restored chromework is also
in very beautiful condition with no pitting and the original spare
wheel is in the trunk. The original 230 c.i. 6 cylinder engine is
extremely strong and powerful and the mileage reading of 94,042 is
believed to be original and this particular car drives
magnificently - must be driven to be believed - drives straight as
an arrow with no strange road wobbles, shakes or rattles - a truly
remarkable daily driver that will give any modern day car a run for
it's money! This is a rare opportunity to own a great daily driving
and restored as necessary over the years example of a never abused
and oozing pride of ownership obviously always garaged and rust
free 1950 Dodge Coronet 4 Door Twin Sedan in simply superb
condition throughout!
