The Model -Originally founded in the 1930's Iso, originally named
Isothermos, was a leader in the production of refrigeration units.
After the war, Renzo Rivolta had taken reigns and in 1953 refounded
the company as Iso AutoVeicoli with the primary purpose of
producing motorcars. Hitting a home-run with their first product,
they had developed a little "bubble-car" known as the Isetta. In
reality, Iso profited more from the licensing fees collected from
other manufacturers that built the little Isetta under license,
like BMW, which found out-standing success with the little
front-door opening coupes. In 1963 the Iso Rivolta was born,
featuring a modern contemporary design that many consider
Giugiaro's finest work. The Rivolta was a marriage of fine Italian
coachwork and proven American horsepower from Chevrolet sourced 327
V8's. Designed to be a Grand Tourer, its suspension used uneven
front linkage set-up connected to a sturdy sway bar, aided by a
rear suspension comprised of twin trailing arms combined with De
Dion rear axle and Watt's linkage. Coils, shocks and disc brakes
were found on all four corners. Production was limited and today
the Rivolta is highly sought-after, described by many as a
dependable Ferrari with same coachwork fit and finish as the
prancing horse with known reliability and power of Corvette.
The Car - This car could be the quickest four-seats you may ever
experience. No disappointments with this Rivolta as it was treated
to a total ground-up restoration that was completed in 2012. It is
presented in a rich coffee-brown metallic with a soft beige leather
interior that covers not only the luxurious seats, but also carried
over to the door panels and the dashpanel. The black-leather
wrapped factory steering wheel is mounted ahead of a full set of
gages that are all functional and easy to read. Under the hood, the
Chevrolet 327 V8 has been refurbished and is reported to be in
excellent running condition. Detailed to perfection it features the
cast aluminum valve covers with red inserts as per the factory
finish. One modern touch was addition of a set of Enkei gold-tone
honey-comb alloy wheels while the original set of wheels will also
be included with the car. Sitting level during a brief road-test
this Rivolta performed just as it was designed with excellent
acceleration, cornering and braking abilities. It is ready for show
or for touring duties, ready to deliver satisfying results in any
service the new owner desires.
