The Model: 2002 marked a major milestone in the history of Bentley.
Under the BMW leadership what was still getting in tune with the
Bentley tradition, the most powerful engine ever placed under this
marque's hood by the factory, was unleashed. The use of twin turbos
created a monster of an engine that was not shared with any other
make or model, making the Arnage the fastest production sedan in
the world. There were a few other technical touches that helped
besides the turbo power, such as the Motronic 7.1.1 "Engine
Management System" that kept just the right about of fuel-air
mixture delivery, and for handling the Bosch electronic stability
program kept these big luxury sedans on the straight and narrow.
With a base price right at $235,000 when new, customers were not to
be disappointed considering all the appointments such as power
everything, a solid, well-insulated passenger compartment fitted
with supple and supportive seating, premium sound system and
climate control for year-round comfort. Mechanically the
transmission was smooth and silent and brakes the highest quality
in the industry.
The Car: Maintained to the highest degree since new, this beautiful
Arnage is finished in Barnato Green complimented with Saddle
leather throughout the interior. Showing relatively low-miles, our
consignor tells us that this Bentley has been given the highest
quality with a file-folder full of receipts to back up those
claims. Luxury appointments are everywhere from the finely crafted
real wood accents on the dashboard door panels and even surrounding
the controls for the power seats. Full climate control and premium
sound system are also part of this package as is the hand-crafted
steering wheel created with dark green leathers. So well insulated
is the passenger cabin that the powerful whine of those dual
Garrett T3 Turbo can barely be heard. Still wearing its original
alloy "Red Label" wheels, the ride is unparalleled for smoothness
while this big sedan's agility is hard to match. Even the trunk
compartment is neatly carpeted, and in case of inclement weather
there is a pair of matching umbrellas strapped to the back board
ready to protect. It has long been said that the Rolls-Royce owners
prefer to be driven, but that a Bentley owner prefers to drive and
what better ride could you hope for.
