Vehicle Description
This beautiful Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible was
positioned as a premium offering at the top of the Cutlass range.
During the 1970s, the Cutlass Supreme became not only the most
popular Oldsmobile but the highest-selling model in its class. This
very nice Oldsmobile Cutlass convertibles color treatment is an
attractive maroon exterior (a standard Olds color in 1970) with a
contrasting white interior and convertible top. Approximately
11,300 Cutlass Supreme convertibles were manufactured for the 1970
model year so you can be pretty sure that youll be only person
pulling into the car show driving a 1970 Olds Cutlass convertible!
The engine propelling this attractive ride is a genuine 350-cubic
inch Oldsmobile delivering 310 horsepower, not the generic GM 350
of later years. Back in the day, each GM division utilized their
own, specifically-designed engines. And Oldsmobile (along with its
sister brand, Cadillac) garnered lasting fame by launching GMs
first overhead valve V-8, the legendary Rocket motor of 1949. The
Rocket propelled Olds to many NASCAR wins in the late 1940s and
early 1950s. The 350 in this Cutlass is a direct descendent of the
famous 1949 Rocket and is still capable of making a strong showing
on the street. This Supreme boasts a full range of options which
are typical of this higher-end model, including air conditioning
(not functioning), power steering/brakes, radio/8-track player.
This classic also sports a dual exhaust system producing a
melodious exhaust symphony. Since GMs mismanagement of the brand
resulted in its demise after the 1999 model year, this is one of
the few opportunities youll have to own a truly RARE example of an
automotive brand which first appeared in 1897. 1970 was a great
sales year for the rear-wheel drive Olds Cutlass Supreme which
captured a significant percentage of the mid-size vehicle market.
You will not be disappointed by this beautiful Oldsmobile and will
definitely stand out from the crowd as you enjoy cruising in it on
the highways and byways of America.
