The C/K was Chevrolet's and GMC's full-size pickup line from
1960-2000. In 1990, Chevrolet introduced a high-performance variant
under the Super Sport emblem called the 454SS. It was available
only as a 2WD half-ton regular cab short bed in Onyx Black with
Garnet Red interior. The power comes via a 454 cid V8 producing 230
hp and 385 lb-ft of torque mated to a 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic 400
automatic transmission. The axel itself is unique, a 14-bolt
semi-floating unit which uses standard Chevrolet 5 on 5-inch
wheels. The suspension was also upgraded and features Bilstein
gas-filled shocks, a front stabilizer bar and a 12.7:1 fast-ratio
steering gear assembly. Special exterior features include a front
air dam with fog lights, special rims, and 454SS badging. The 454SS
was discontinued after the 1993 model year with a total of only
16,953 units sold over the 4-year period. The owner states only
12,104 actual miles driven and this beautiful truck looks the part.
