In 1961 there were approximately 110 Harrington Alpines produced by
Thomas Harington Coach Builders Ltd. These cars were based on
Series II Alpine bodies and were produced from 1961. The Sunbeam
Harrington's were sold the authorized Rootes Ltd. dealerships. The
Harrington Alpines brought together classic British styling
coachwork, a superb chassis by Sunbeam and race breed performance
tuning by George Hartwell Ltd to make this Harrington Alpine an
outright blast to drive. What made these are cars special was the
addition of the fiberglass fastback roof, which gave the Harrington
Alpines a sleek, artsy, coupe functionality.
Sunbeam Harrington Alpine chassis # B9102814 finished light blue
metallic paint with a dark blue interior, wood steering, and a Momo
shift knob to top it off. At first glance the Sunbeam Harrington
Alpine catches your eye with it classy, but sport-minded styling.
Everything was done with function and form in mind. These cars
truly cloak us in the styling of the early British 1960's style.
The interior of the Sunbeam Harrington Alpine is exquisite with
dark blue leather abounding and complemented by beautiful burled
wood on the dash and shift knob. Another item of note is the
beautiful Moto-Lita wood/aluminum steering wheel that is in
exceptional condition.
The coachwork is exceptional and just take a look at the hinged
deck lid, the angled taillights and stunning metallic paint. The
Alpine and Harrington badging state there is something special
here. The bright work is tastefully done accentuating the sporty
lines of the Harrington hardtop. This car looks amazing from every

As with most enthusiast cars the engine is the heart of it. This
right hand drive car sports a 1.6L I-4 engine with Webber Carbs and
from the 1st crack of the engine you know this car wants to go!
George Hartwell Ltd did all the engine tuning for Harrington at the
time of the original build. As with the exceptional styling of the
exterior, the engine also is something to behold with chrome
accents throughout and those Webber carbs windup all motoring
aficionados. The Harrington also has true wire wheels w/knockoffs
to complete the ensemble.
This car is encapsulates all things from the 1960's style, sport
and exclusivity and will certainly complement your collection. The
