Vehicle Description
1970 Plymouth Superbird For Sale
Dubbed the "Aero Warrior" and known to be one of the most storied
muscle cars of all time, the 1970 Superbird was designed to race in
NASCAR, but series rules dictated that the automaker produce at
least one car for every two dealer franchises to qualify a
particular model for racing. Based on a modified Road Runner 2-door
coupe, the Superbird is best known for its high rear spoiler and
extra-long nose, which added 19 extra inches of length to the front
of the car in an effort to be more streamlined and aerodynamic.
Having the headlights faired into the body further reduced
wind-drag. Plymouth won the Daytona 500 with Peter Hamilton driving
a Superbird in 1970, and Richard Petty's Superbird became one of
the most recognizable race cars in history. Despite NASCAR's
discontinuation of high-powered aerodynamic designs in 1971, the
Superbird still remains legendary due to its success. Finished in
Lemon Twist Yellow, this 1970 Plymouth Superbird features fresh
paint, a correct 440 Six Pack 390hp engine, and original 4-speed
manual transmission with pistol-grip shifter, bench seat, original
fender tag and new tires.
