Vehicle Description
The R107 and C107 took the chassis components of the mid-size
Mercedes-Benz W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from
the W116 S-class. The SL version was a two-seat roadster with
standard soft and hardtop with optional folding seats for the rear
bench. The SLC (C107) derivative was a two-door hardtop coup with
normal rear seats. The SLC is commonly referred to as an 'SL
coup', but in reality it was an S-class coup replacing the former
Saloon-based 280/300 SE coup in the Mercedes-Benz line-up. The SLC
was replaced earlier than the SL, in 1981, with a much larger
model, the 380 SEC based on the new S-class. Sales in North America
began in 1972 with the name 350 SL but with a larger 4.5 litre, V8
engine and was renamed 450 SL/SLC. This Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC was
first registered 6th November, 1979 and has just one former keeper.
Offered in blue with contrasting grey interior, this coup would
benefit from some cosmetic restoration. With only one minor
advisory on the last MoT it presents as a very usable example. This
car is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT
certificate valid until December 2017. The value of 107 shape
Mercedes-Benz has strengthened considerably in recent years and the
SLC is beginning to be recognised for the outstanding car that it
is. For sale by auction on Saturday 23 September 2017 with
