Vehicle Description
The R107 model Mercedes-Benz, manufactured from 1971 to 1989, is
well recognised today and it was rare to see an episode of Dallas
or Dynasty in the 1980's without an SL making a star appearance.
Offered with multiple engine sizes and configurations, this
particular 280SL is, as the name suggests, a fuel injected straight
six of 2746 cubic capacity. This example presents beautifully, its
bright red coachwork being in fine condition with a very clean and
original engine bay. The interior appears pristine with little or
no signs of wear to the checker black/grey fabric and trim. The
soft-top has recently been replaced, the well designed mechanism
folding down out of sight under a panel ahead of the boot lid
giving the Mercedes a beautifully sleek, uncluttered appearance
whilst there is also the advantage of the optional hardtop being
included. Additional items include front fog lights, radio/CD
player and rear seats with belts. The accompanying file includes an
Owner's Manual and the service book with details recording an
extensive history dating back to the 1980s, all from main dealers,
apart from the final two that were carried out by Mercedes-Benz
independent specialists; the most recent dated 10th August 2017. We
are informed that this 280SL will arrive at the sale with a fresh
MoT test certificate. If you are seeking an original and classic
Mercedes-Benz then look no further as this up-market, quality
sports tourer certainly ticks the boxes and with SL prices firming
over recent times, we would advise any potential buyers of this
model not to wait too long. For sale by auction on Saturday 23
September 2017 with Historics at Brooklands, Brooklands Motor
Racing Circuit, Weybridge, Surrey, Call 01753 639170
