Vehicle Description
According to a letter, dated 25th January 2013 from the Stiftung
AutoMuseum Volkswagen, this Volkswagen Double Cabin was
manufactured between August 1974 and July 1975 and delivered to
Australia in January 1975. There is no history of the T2 held
during its life in Australia until the Double Cab was imported into
the UK in 2013 and registered here in February 2013. It is quite
rare to find a righthand drive version of this model and since its
import into the UK, this example has received a new 1600cc air
cooled engine, fitted on 1st March 2014 and a new black interior.
Importantly, the new engine has had its engine number recorded upon
the UK V5 registration document. The load area may be converted to
a flatbed as it is fitted with drop side and tailgate hinged
panels. The rear passenger compartment is useful for any extra
passengers or as an additional storage area and is accessed via the
left side, rear door. On a recent test, this example drove and
stopped well and in addition will arrive at the sale with a fresh
MoT test certificate. Today this T2 has survived very well, no
doubt helped by spending its life in the drier climate of
Australia. The grey coachwork not only looks attractive but is also
functional with its load and passenger carrying capability; perhaps
ideal for promotional work or for those outward-bound expeditions
for the more adventurous. For sale by auction on Saturday 23
