Vehicle Description
The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as
a four-cylinder roadster, a coup with 2+2 seating was added in
1965 with production continuing until October 1980. The MGB GT
sported a ground-breaking design by Pininfarina with the launch of
its sporty 'hatchback' style. By combining the sloping rear window
with the rear deck lid, the GT offered the utility of a hatchback
while retaining the style and shape of a coup. Acceleration of the
GT was slightly slower than that of the Roadster due to its
increased weight although top speed was improved by 5mph to 105mph
due to better aerodynamics. This MG B GT with overdrive was
purchased by the vendor in early 2015 as a restoration project.
This was started 21 years ago when it was stripped down to the bare
body shell, it then had new panels fitted and repainted in the
original Old English White. In 2015, the vendor started to finish
the rebuild, this has included a complete engine overhaul replacing
the cylinder head with one for use with unleaded fuel, gearbox
overhaul, new wiring loom, the instruments overhauled, re-setting
the odometer back to zero, a full front and rear suspension rebuild
using Nilock bushes, Kenlow fan and a full brake rebuild. Now fully
completed, this MG B GT, with black leather interior, is supplied
with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which
expires in June 2018, a Heritage Certificate, a set of photographs
taken of the body restoration and a file of invoices from 1986
which was when the restoration started; it has only covered 340
miles since. This MG B GT represents an opportunity to purchase a
car that has been fully gone through giving the new owner good,
reliable motoring in this increasingly popular marque. For sale by
