Vehicle Description
1953 Corvette Convertible Polo White with Beautiful Red Interior
and Black Canvas Soft Top. Original "Blue Flame" 235 Straight 6
with Powerglide Automatic Transmission. Complete Rotisserie
Restoration that has earned a 2015 Top Flight Award. The story is
as great as the car... Purchased from the original owner in 1962 by
Lyle E. Hill who knew the car from new and who's estate sold the
car in 2014 to the most recent owner, a very high end collector in
the Phoenix area. Mr. Hill "disassembled" the car in 1968 when he
was called to duty in the Army and sent to Germany. In his
daughter's words "he said he didn't want it sitting around for 2
years not being run, or worse that someone would be driving it
while he was away. He loved his 087 and was just a little
possessive of it" Mr. Hill returned from duty in 1970, started on a
family... and life...and so 087 sat until the early 80's when the
family moved to a home with sufficient land to build a barn to
begin the restoration. It was finished for the 2003 50th
Anniversary event in Flint MI. If the stories were all as good as
this, I wish all these old cars could talk. This is not just a
piece of Corvette History, this is a piece of American History.
From passion to own a Corvette, to answering the call of duty, to
putting family priorities first, and all the time having the
patience to wait for the right time to reignite that passion
again... this car deserves one heck of a garage to call home.
