For Sale: 1970 Chevrolet Camaro in Scottsdale, Arizona

Vehicle Description

Building the ultimate autocross Camaro takes time, patience and a keen eye for detail – all three of which went into making this 1970 Camaro what it is today. Starting with just a rolling shell, the team at Heath Elmer Restorations of Mesa, AZ, built this car into one of the top second-generation Camaros on the planet. Starting with the chassis, a Detroit Speed front subframe was utilized with JRi Coilover shocks, C6 spindles, splined sway bar and subframe connectors integrated into the floor pan. The rear features a DSE Quadralink triangulated 4-link with JRi Coilovers as well, with a mini-tub kit. Tying the whole thing together is a custom-made roll cage integrated into the subframe.

For power, a monstrous Chevrolet Performance 427ci V8 sits between the new subframe, with a forged crank and pistons, as well as Dart aluminum heads capped off with an eight-stack EFI unit from Imagine Injection; all combining to put out 655hp. A Tremec T56 Magnum with McLeod racing twin-disc clutch was added to handle all the power, sending it to a DSE 9-inch rear end with Truetrac differential and 3.89 gears.

Performance alone isn’t what makes this a true one-off Camaro. The interior features custom leather bucket seats, push-button ignition and endless custom-machined billet aluminum pieces. Features such as the entire dash face, shift knob, door handles, sill plates, gauge faces, air vents and console trim plate have all been custom-machined to complement the interior. On the outside, a combination of sleek Gunmetal Gray paint was used with exposed carbon fiber on the hood and trunk lid to give the car a stealthy, aggressive look. Rounding out everything is a set of staggered-fit Rushforth Whiplash wheels powder-coated in satin black; 18x10s in the front and 18x12s in the back with BFGoodrich KDW tires give the car plenty of tread for the right blend of performance and stance.

With a parts list that goes on for pages and custom touches everywhere you look, this car can’t be described with words alone. The combination of form and function it offers is a level achieved by only the best builders in the world.
